You can't do it by looking at the marketing. You have to look at the process. 3. What chemistry do you use on perforated or heated leather?
A qualified detailer will tell you they use a pH-balanced, leather-specific cleaner and a separate conditioner — not an all-in-one interior spray. They'll mention the risk of clogging leather perforations, damaging heating elements, or drying out the hide. If they say "we just use our interior cleaner on everything," your leather will suffer. 4. Do you use steam, or just spray-and-wipe?
212°F steam is what actually sanitizes and lifts embedded contamination from carpet, seats, and crevices. Spray-and-wipe doesn't sanitize and doesn't lift. The best interior details in Johnson County use steam as a core step, not an upsell.
5. Who actually performs the work?
At a shop, ask who is doing the detail. Is it the owner? A trained tech with years of experience? Or someone hired last month?
