What Dealership Detailing Actually Means
Used car lots have a specific problem: inventory that arrived looking rough needs to look showroom-ready before it hits the lot. Trade-ins come in with dog hair, fast food, stained carpets, grimy engines, and decade-old tree sap baked into the paint. Buyers notice all of it. A clean car sells faster and commands more money.
I'm Joe Young — owner and sole operator of Premier Detailing LLC out of De Soto, Kansas. I come to your lot with a fully self-contained setup. No water hookup, no power hookup required. My equipment — McCulloch 212°F steam cleaner, RIDGID shop vac, California Air compressor, RYOBI pressure washer — goes wherever the car is. I pull up, work through the list, and your team can have sale-ready inventory without pulling a single vehicle off the lot to a fixed location.
Dealerships and Lots I Serve in Johnson County
I run routes across the I-35 and US-169 corridors in JoCo. The following are targets I'm already familiar with or actively prospecting. If your lot isn't listed, call — it almost certainly falls within my range.
Olathe Auto Sales — Olathe, KS
High-volume independent lot in Olathe. Mix of domestic and import inventory. Trade-in turnover is the primary need — interior reset before vehicles go to the front line.
Affordable Auto Sales — Olathe, KS
Budget-friendly inventory means vehicles coming in need more cleanup work, not less. Strong candidate for recurring weekly detail days to keep the lot looking sharp.
In Motion Sales — Olathe/Lenexa area
Active independent dealer. Mobile detailing on-lot eliminates the need to haul vehicles elsewhere for prep. Streamlines the process from trade-in to front line.
PrimeLine Motors — Johnson County
Independent dealer carrying diverse inventory. I can adapt service level to vehicle type and condition — from a quick interior reset on a clean trade-in to a full decon detail on a vehicle with pet hair and paint contamination.
KC Car Gallery South — Overland Park / South JoCo
Gallery-style lot where presentation matters most. Full Premier Detail with iron decon, clay bar, and P&S Bead Maker sealant is the right service here — paint needs to look correct under lot lighting.
What I Do to Prep a Used Car for Sale
The detail process varies by condition of the vehicle, but here's what a thorough dealership prep looks like on a trade-in that's seen better days:
Interior (Always the Priority on a Trade-In)
- Full vacuum including trunk, under seats, seat tracks
- Compressed air blown through all vents, cup holders, door panel gaps
- P&S Express Interior applied to all hard surfaces — dash, door panels, center console
- McCulloch steam cleaner on carpets, floor mats, seat seams, plastics — 212°F kills odor bacteria at the source
- Carpet Bomber foam applied to stains, extracted with RIDGID shop vac
- Leather cleaned and conditioned (Full Detail tier)
- Interior glass cleaned streak-free
- Door jambs wiped down
Exterior (Full Detail Tier)
- P&S Rinseless Wash applied panel by panel with Rag Company ultra-soft sponge
- Dark Fury iron decontamination — removes brake dust and embedded ferrous contamination that shows up brown on white paint and trucks
- Clay bar to strip bonded contamination off the clear coat
- P&S Bead Maker ceramic sealant applied as final protection — keeps the paint looking fresh under lot lights and during test drives
- Wheels and tires: Dark Fury wheel cleaner, agitation, rinse, tire dressing
Engine Bay (Add-On, Advance Notice Required)
Degreased and blown out with the California Air compressor, wiped down to a clean, presentable condition. Not a full rebuild — just enough so a potential buyer can open the hood and not see a decade of road grime.
Pricing Per Vehicle
My standard retail pricing applies to dealership work. There's no volume discount that compromises the work, but I can build a recurring weekly or bi-weekly schedule that keeps your lot running efficiently without back-to-back appointments eating into your team's time.
- Interior Reset: $225 sedan / $275 SUV/truck — vacuum, steam, plastics, glass
- Full Premier Detail: $325 sedan / $375 SUV — everything above plus full exterior decon and P&S Bead Maker sealant
- Engine Bay: +$75 — advance notice required
- Pet Hair: Included on Full Detail. Severe cases may require additional time — I'll quote before starting
Why Mobile Beats Hauling to a Fixed Detail Shop
Fixed detail shops require you to transport vehicles, work around their schedule, and often wait days during busy periods. I come to you. Vehicles never leave the lot during the prep process. Your sales team can still show them while I'm working on others. No wasted travel time for drivers, no risk of something happening to inventory in transit.
My setup is also genuinely self-contained — I don't need your water or electricity. The rinseless wash system and my onboard water supply handle exterior work. The steam cleaner, shop vac, and compressor run off a power source I bring. If you have a lot plug available, I'll use it — if not, I can work without it.
