Allergy Season Car Interior Reset, Johnson County, KS

If your eyes start itching the moment you turn the key, your own car is probably the trigger. From late February through May, Kansas City trees, oak, maple, hickory, ash, walnut and mulberry, dump pollen that rides the wind straight onto your dashboard, and our dry, gusty springs make it worse. That pollen settles into vents and fabric, mold takes hold in the AC condensate, dust mites move into carpet padding, and pet dander binds to the seats. An Interior Reset strips all of it out so the cabin stops working against you every time you drive.

What gets removed

Tree and grass pollen off the dash, vents, console and every plastic surface. Mold spores from condensate buildup deep in the HVAC system. Dust mites and their waste from carpet and seat padding. Pet dander bound into fabric. By late summer, ragweed too, which hangs around Kansas City from August into the first freeze. I do not just wipe the visible film, I steam and extract the places these allergens actually hide.

Process

212F McCulloch steam cleaner pumps high-temperature vapor into vents, dashboard, console, seat stitching, and door panels. RIDGID shop vac with brush attachment lifts particulates.

Best for

Anyone who dreads April through June in Kansas City, asthmatics, hay-fever sufferers, parents of kids with sensitivities, and dog or cat owners whose pets ride along. It is also the right reset for a car that has sat through a pollen-heavy spring or a fresh used purchase you want decontaminated before you commit to it daily. I book these driveway appointments across Johnson County, from Overland Park, Leawood and Olathe to Lenexa, Shawnee and out to De Soto.

What most detailers miss, the AC vent system

Pollen and mold spores collect in the evaporator coil housing behind your dashboard, in the dark and damp exactly where mold likes to grow. Every time you switch on the AC, the blower pushes that buildup straight out the vents and into your face, which is why a cabin can smell musty and set off symptoms even after the seats look spotless. I steam the vent louvers and feed high-temperature vapor into the system, then extract it, so I am treating the source instead of masking it with a scented spray. A fresh cabin filter on your end keeps it that way.
