Hard water spots form when Kansas water (which is mineral-heavy) evaporates on paint, leaving calcium and magnesium deposits behind. Professional clay bar treatment and iron decontamination remove them effectively.
Book Online NowJohnson County, Kansas uses water from the Kansas River and local aquifers — both high in dissolved minerals. Hard water is the norm, not the exception. This means every vehicle that gets washed with tap water, or sits in a driveway near a lawn sprinkler, or gets caught in typical Kansas City rain with its industrial pollution content, is accumulating mineral deposits on the paint surface.
Light water spots appear as white or milky haze on darker paint colors. Moderate spots are visible as defined circular deposits. Severe spots etch into the clear coat and feel rough to the touch. The severity determines the removal method required.
Clay bar removes light-moderate water spots. Includes ceramic sealant to prevent future deposits.
All of the above for larger vehicles.
For severe etching that clay bar cannot address.
Step 1: Iron decontamination with Dark Fury dissolves any iron particles that may be bonded alongside the mineral deposits. Step 2: Clay bar physically pulls the mineral deposits from the clear coat surface. For most Johnson County vehicles with regular water spot buildup, clay bar combined with iron decon removes the spots completely.
Step 3: P&S Bead Maker ceramic sealant is applied after decontamination. The hydrophobic surface causes water to bead and roll off rather than evaporate and leave deposits behind — preventing new water spots from forming between details.

Kansas has naturally hard water with high mineral content — primarily calcium and magnesium. When water from a hose, sprinkler, or rain evaporates on paint, these minerals remain bonded to the clear coat surface as white or chalky spots. The longer they sit, the deeper they etch into the clear coat and the harder they are to remove.
Yes. Light to moderate water spots are removed during clay bar decontamination, which is included in every Full Premier Detail ($325 sedan/$375 SUV). Severe water spots that have etched into the clear coat require paint correction with a machine polisher — a service we are adding in late 2026. We assess the severity on arrival.
After washing, dry the vehicle immediately with a clean microfiber drying towel rather than letting it air dry. Apply a ceramic sealant (like P&S Bead Maker, which we include on every full detail) to create a hydrophobic surface that sheds water before it can evaporate and deposit minerals. Park in shade when possible during summer months.
Yes. Clay bar decontamination, included in the Full Premier Detail, removes most water spots effectively. For severe etching that clay cannot address, we will advise on the extent of the damage and our timeline for offering paint correction services.
