Why Black Paint Is the Hardest Color to Maintain in Johnson County
Black paint shows every swirl mark, every water spot, every fingerprint, and every minor scratch that any other color hides. The surface of a neglected black vehicle, even one that appears shiny in a parking lot, looks like fine steel wool was dragged across it under direct sunlight.
Kansas hard water makes this worse. Overland Park and Olathe municipal water contains mineral content that leaves deposits on black paint after every wash if the vehicle is not dried immediately.
What Keeps Black Paint Looking Right
- Stop using the tunnel wash, Every pass through a tunnel wash drags contaminated brushes across your black paint. The swirls accumulate. Switch to a rinseless hand wash or a touchless wash as a minimum between professional details.
- Iron decon during a Premier Signature, Embedded brake dust is dark and invisible on black paint, but it is there and it is embedding deeper over time.
