"Do I need an interior detail or a full detail?" This is the question I hear most from Johnson County car owners. The answer depends on your car's current condition and what you are trying to accomplish.
What Is Included in an Interior Reset
The Interior Reset is a deep clean and refresh of your car's inside. This service includes:.
- Thorough vacuuming of all seats, carpets, and floor mats, with a compressor blow-out of seat rails, seams and vents in between so the second vacuum gets what the first one could not reach
- Interior surface cleaning (dashboard, door panels, armrests, center console) with chemistry matched to the surface: P&S Xpress Interior and Koch-Chemie MZR on plastics, vinyl and leather, Koch-Chemie Multi Star only where a surface is bad enough to need it
- McCulloch steam at 212°F on fabric, carpet and plastics to lift what the cleaner loosened and sanitize
- Floor mat removal and cleaning
- Pet hair removal (as a $95 add-on, with pet hair tools that are not sold at retail)
- Spot cleaning of minor stains
- Interior protection and refreshment
Cost: $225 (sedan) / $275 (SUV)
Time: Typically 2 to 4 hours
The Interior Reset is designed for people whose cars have lived in them, whether that is kids eating in the back seat, dogs shedding across the interior, or just the daily wear and tear of regular driving.
What Is Included in a Full Premier Detail
The Full Premier Detail is the complete package. You get everything in the Interior Reset, plus a full exterior treatment:.
Interior:
- Deep vacuuming and cleaning (seats, carpets, floor mats)
- Surface cleaning, steam, and protection
- Pet hair removal (as a $95 add-on)
Exterior:
- Wheels and tires first: TRX rubber cleaner, Wheely Clean wheel acid, dedicated brushes, so brake dust never lands on a clean panel
- Koch-Chemie Multi Star pre-wash over the whole car, left to dwell to break road film loose, then a heavy rinse
- Quivr foam contact hand wash panel by panel with a premium mitt (lifts dirt without dragging grit across the paint), then another heavy rinse
- Koch-Chemie Protector Wax on paint, glass, trim and tires (a multi-month wax that adds shine and water beading)
- Koch-Chemie tire dressing, no sling
Cost: $350 (sedan) / $400 (SUV)
Time: Typically 4 to 5 hours
The Full Detail is a complete restoration of your car's appearance and protection. Your paint gets waxed, protected, and primed to stay clean longer. If the paint feels rough to the touch, step up to The Premier Signature ($500 sedan / $575 SUV), which adds iron decontamination and a clay mitt stage on every panel before the wax.
How to Choose: Interior Reset or Full Detail?
Choose Interior Reset If:
- Your car's exterior is already clean or you regularly wash it
- You are dealing with pet hair, food spills, or general interior mess
- You want a quick refresh without extensive exterior work
- Your budget is tighter and you just need to address the inside
- You are a business owner and your car's condition impacts your image
Common scenario: A family with two dogs. The interior is a pet-hair disaster, but they wash the car regularly.
Choose Full Premier Detail If:
- Your car has not been professionally detailed in 6+ months
- You want maximum protection and shine lasting months, not days
- Your interior and exterior both need work
- You drive frequently and want professional-grade protection
- You are preparing to sell, trade-in, or just want your car looking pristine
- You want the Protector Wax protection that repels water and minor contaminants
Common scenario: A professional who takes pride in appearance. The Full Detail makes the car look showroom-ready and protected.
The Real Difference You Will See
After an Interior Reset, your interior looks refreshed, clean, smells fresh, and feels like a new car inside. The exterior does not change.
After a Full Premier Detail, your entire car transforms. The interior is showroom-clean and your exterior has a deep, wet-looking shine.
Pricing Breakdown: Why Full Detail Is Worth the Upgrade
The difference between Interior Reset ($225) and Full Detail ($350) for a sedan is $150. Here is what you are getting for that extra investment:.
- Multi Star pre-wash and Quivr foam contact hand wash
- Wheel and tire cleaning
- Koch-Chemie Protector Wax (protection that lasts months)
- Complete exterior wash and finishing
From a value perspective, your car's exterior is the first thing people see. Protecting and sealing your paint keeps it looking newer longer and prevents premature oxidation and damage.
What About Leather Conditioning and Pet Hair Removal?
Both the Interior Reset and the Full Premier Detail can take the same $95 add-ons:
- Leather Protection & Conditioning ($95): the P&S leather care system, the same line used on the presidential limousine: clean, condition, then a UV protectant on every leather surface
- Pet Hair Removal ($95): non-retail pet hair tools with the compressor and shop vac, agitation and extraction on every seat, carpet, and cargo surface. A common request in Johnson County dog-owning households
Add-ons are quoted up front, never a surprise on the day. Mention pets or leather when you book so I block the extra time.
The Pro Recommendation
Here is my honest take: If you are only going to detail your car twice a year, go with the Full Premier Detail. You get the interior refresh and the exterior protection that keeps your car looking newer longer.
If you are detailing quarterly (a smart schedule for pet owners or families), the Interior Reset makes sense for a couple of those visits, with a Full Detail once or twice a year for maximum protection.
