Westwood Has No Driveways to Spare, Which Is Why Mobile Detailing Makes More Sense Here Than Anywhere

Westwood is fewer than 2,000 people on a handful of blocks, and the lots are some of the smallest in Johnson County. The homes on Westwood Terrace Drive, along Rainbow Boulevard, and on the streets between 46th and 50th were built in the 1940s and 1950s, when a family had one car and it was a lot narrower than a modern SUV. Driveways here are short, garages are tight, and plenty of cars live at the curb.

Westwood's east edge is the Kansas-Missouri state line, which puts the whole city within a few blocks of Rainbow Boulevard and Southwest Trafficway and the traffic that runs between Johnson County and Kansas City, Missouri all day. Cars parked near those corridors pick up two things: road film, the oily gray layer that dulls paint, and iron brake dust, which bonds into the clear coat and stays there through every wash.

Inside, the story is the standard one for a close-in commuter city. Daily drivers, short trips across the state line, kids, dogs, and a console full of receipts. The Interior Reset puts all of that back to zero, and the Full Premier Detail adds the outside in the same visit.

Interior Reset ($225 sedan / $275 SUV): Industrial vacuum, compressed-air blow-out of the seat rails, seams and vents, then Xpress Interior and MZR matched to each surface, 212°F McCulloch steam to lift what the cleaner loosened and sanitize the fabric, carpet and seat extraction, plastics protected, glass streak-free.

Full Premier Detail ($350 sedan / $400 SUV): Complete interior plus the exterior process: TRX and Wheely Clean on the wheels and tires first so brake dust never lands on clean paint, Koch-Chemie Multi Star pre-wash to break the road film loose before a mitt touches the car, a heavy rinse, a Quivr foam contact wash with a high-lubricity soap so the mitt glides instead of grinding grit into the clear coat, then Koch-Chemie Protector Wax on paint, glass and trim for multi-month protection. Four to five hours in your Westwood driveway. Iron decon and a clay mitt on every panel are in The Premier Signature ($500 sedan / $575 SUV).

For the state-line brake dust, The Premier Signature is the one to book. Iron decon goes on after the foam contact wash and turns purple as it pulls the embedded iron out, then I clay every panel by hand with a clay mitt, rinse, and only then put the Protector Wax on clean paint. On a Westwood car that has never had it done, the difference is something you can feel with your palm.
